Welcome to Juneau School District's Teaching and Learning Support! Whether you are interested in reviewing the curriculum in Juneau or you are a current employee looking for a particular instructional resource, we hope you will take a few minutes to browse the site and help yourself to the information offered here. Are you a KINDERGARTEN PARENT?  Have you registered your kindergartener for school yet?  If not, please go to your neighborhood school and complete the paperwork to register your upcoming kinder student.  It is important for staffing purposes to get an accurate count early.

What should your child know and be able to do to enter kindergarten ready?  Here are some great ideas to make sure your child is ready for the big day!  Have fun, and don't forget... READ AND TALK - EVERY DAY!

CURRICULUM NEWS!  We are in the midst of curriculum renewal for secondary english/language arts! 

SECONDARY ENGLISH/LANGUAGE ARTS UPDATE:  The curriculum renewal team selected SpringBoard for the grade 6-12 instructional materials.  SpringBoard is a college and career readiness program for ALL students from College Board.  SpringBoard provides a research-based and research-proven path to college or career readiness, including Advanced Placement courses.  SpringBoard makes rigor accessible to ALL learners through a framework that integrates instructional materials, performance-based assessments and professional development.  For more information, visit the SpringBoard page.  This will go before the School Board May, 2013 with a final reading June, 2013.

WORLD LANGUAGES UPDATE:   The World Language Committee has completed their curriculum renewal and instructional materials review.  This was adopted by the School Board May, 2013.

MATHEMATICS:  A focus on elementary mathematics is well underway.  Elementary classrooms are utilizing Math In Focus, The Singapore Approach.  For more information, please visit the newly created parent information blog.

Core Standards

High Academic standards are an important first step in ensuring our Juneau students have all the tools they need for success. Rigorous standards in english/language arts and mathematics build a foundation for our students, to prepare them for postsecondary education and careers after high school.
Standards are broken up into three different categories.  Please click the links below to find out more, and go straight to the Common Core State Standards.  Alaska adopted new standards in June of 2012.  They are very similar to the Common Core State Standards.  Alaska Standards
