Class descriptions:

  • Hand Building Pottery Class with Louise Kuntz-Tadda (THIS CLASS IS FULL!)

Louise is a very experienced pottery artist and teacher who has taught for Juneau Community Schools for several years. 

Students will hand build pieces just in time to make Mother's Day gifts, create something for spring gardening, or choose your own adventure creation

There will be an opportunity to experiment on the wheel as well. 

This class is for ages 18+, or teenagers accompanied by a parent/guardian. 

Tuesdays, March 26- April 30 in the TMHS art room. 6:00pm-8:30pm. 

Fee- $216.00, plus supplies.

Supplies for returning students- $17.00

Supplies for new students- $25.00

This is a project based class and you need to be able to attend so you can finish your creations

  • Preserving Berries and Fruit with Sarah Lewis.

Saturday, April 13. 1pm-6pm. Juneau-Douglas High School Yadda.at Kale culinary arts room.

Waterbath canning and dehydrating will be covered in this hands-on workshop.  The focus will be on fruits and berries that can be harvested from Juneau’s gardens and wild lands (and grocery stores). 

Cost: $73.00, includes supplies.

  • **Pickling and Fermenting Vegetables. **

Sunday, April 14. 9am-Noon. Juneau-Douglas High School Yadda.at Kale culinary arts room

Do you love pickled vegetables, sauerkraut, and kim-chi? Youʼll be astonished by how easy it is to make your own! In this class you will learn the basics of lacto-fermentation and vinegar pickling for tasty homemade snacks and digestive health

Cost $39.00, includes supplies.

  • Preserving Meat, Fish, and Vegetables

Sunday, April 14. 1pm-6pm. Juneau-Douglas High School Yadda.at Kale culinary arts room.

Learn to safely preserve your meat, fish and vegetables for the pantry shelf. In this class, Sarah will teach pressure canning, water-bath canning, and dehydration skills for people of all experience levels, with a focus on wild-harvested meats and Southeast-grown vegetables.

Cost $63.00, includes supplies.
