Juneau School District
There are six elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school (plus alternative and charter schools) serving over 5,000 students in the Juneau School District.
The district is fairly progressive. In addition to a movement towards standards based curriculum, the district has been experimenting with alternative ways of reporting student performance, including electronic report cards and student portfolios.
Juneau supports technology in education. The voters have approved multi-million dollar technology bonds, and consequently we have decent computers and other technology, including schools that are completely wired for the internet. This wise choice by the community has created a great opportunity for its students.
