JSD Graduation Requirements

JSD Graduation Requirements • Board Approval April 25, 2011

The Juneau School District currently requires students to have 21.5 credits to graduate. That’s changing. The Juneau School District raised the number of credits required for high school graduation starting with the class of 2015, or students entering their freshman year in the first semester of school year 2011-2012 to 23.

These requirements include specific courses that must be taken by all high school students. In addition, students must pass all three sections (Reading, Writing, Math) of the Alaska High School Graduation Qualifying Exam (HSGQE). Each semester-long class successfully completed equals one half-credit.

Most post- secondary training and universities require additional credits in Math, Science, and Fine Arts/World Languages. Consult your school counselor for collegiate planning.
