Greetings and welcome to the student-centered Juneau School District! Juneau Schools have been focused on learning for more than a century, from single-room schools to cyber school. For a small district (4900 students), we offer an impressive array of choices for students at all levels and encourage you to learn about those options

The Office of Assistant Superintendent oversees pre-K-12 student success, including: 

  • a framework of best instructional practices;
  • parent involvement;
  • achievement and accountability planning;
  • equity and cultural education
  • coaching of literacy, technology, elementary art and science
  • curricular review;
  • professional development of more than 430 licensed staff members;
  • administration of the sweeping federal law, No Child Left Behind;
  • grants coordination and administration
  • standards-based assessments;
  • a variety of optional programs and related lottery;
  • student activities and school climate;
  • career and technical education;
  • Extended Learning and English Language Learner programs
  • media specialists (librarians and libraries);
  • and special programs to supplement student learning, such as summer acceleration, seaside nature education, and music.
