Juneau, AK — Teachers and staff at the Juneau School District have chalked up a million bucks worth of good behavior. Their energy-efficient practices have earned big savings, and now are attracting national recognition.

The Juneau School District has achieved $1 million in cost savings in 30 months since forming a strategic alliance with Energy Education, a national energy conservation company, which will present its Energy Excellence Award during the School Board meeting tonight.

The idea that studying music and involvement in drama improves the intellect is not a new one. Student involvement in fine arts affects school climate, student’s relationships with teachers, and more significantly, connections between arts, learning and cognitive, social and personal development.
