The Juneau School District invites you to meet the candidates for the next Juneau-Douglas High School Principal. Following a nation-wide search, four finalists have been chosen to come to Juneau and visit our community. Please join us for an Open House on Thursday, March 11, in the JDHS Library and come by on Friday to listen to each candidate speak during their individual Public Interview. Interviews will take place throughout the day on Friday, March 12, starting at 8:15 a.m. and ending at 3:00 p.m in the JDHS Library.

The Volunteer Drug Testing Program officially kicked off on February 10, 2010. All high school students to turn in their signed consent forms that day received a free movie theater ticket.

The Juneau School District joins the the State of Alaska in recognizing Elizabeth Peratrovich Day on Tuesday, February 16, 2010. There are a number of community events planned in Juneau. Check the JSD Upcoming Events calendar for more information.

The Juneau School District Budget Committee has received the preliminary draft of the FY 2011 budget, which begins July 1, 2010. The committee will continue to review the budget at its next meeting scheduled for Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the JDHS Library.

The Credit Attainment Recovery & Employablility Skills (C.A.R.E.S) Learning Center has released its Winter 2010 newsletter C.A.R.E.S. News. C.A.R.E.S is a drop out prevention program for current and returning high school students needing credits to graduate.  C.A.R.E.S classes are offered beyond the traditional school day.  Hours range from 2:30 pm to 7:00 pm.  C.A.R.E.S partners closely with community organizations to provide hands-on, community based learning. CARES is located in Marie Drake room 244. Please call 523.1817 for more information.
