Policies and Regulations

Policies and regulations are the rules by which a school board governs and a district operates.  Policies help students, district employees, parents and others know what to expect of the district and what is expected of them.  The Board of Education adopts policies through action at their regular Board meetings.  Administrative regulations describe how the administration will implement the Board Policy.  The Superintendent presents revisions to the administrative regulation to the Board at a regular Board meeting.

Policy Manual Structure

The policy manual is broken into two main parts:

  1. Board Policies & Regulations
  2. Board Bylaws (rules governing Board actions)

Board policies are broken into ten sections shown below. Each section shows a specific area of Board responsibility and serves to organize the nearly 200 policies. Policies are written and approved by the Board. Administration writes rules and regulations of how those policies are to be implemented.
