Three candidates to interview for Superintendent

The Board of Education selected semi-finalist candidates for Superintendent of the Juneau School District during an executive session on Monday, June 2.

Semi-finalists will be interviewed by the Board of Education on Saturday, June 7, in the Thunder Mountain High School Library, starting at 8:00 AM.  The public is invited to attend and submit written comment cards to offer observations about the semi-finalists.  The Board will narrow its search that afternoon in executive session.

Saturday, June 7, Interview Schedule:

8:15 - 9:45 am   Rick Williams, Region 10 Education Service Center, Texas

10:00 - 11:30 am   Angela Lunda, Hoonah City Schools, Alaska

11:45 am - 1:15 pm   Mark Miller, Hayward Unified School District, California

The finalists will be asked to attend a public meet and greet at Savikko Shelter 1 on Sunday, June 8, from 3:00 – 5:00 PM.  Again, people will provide comment cards for the Board’s review.

The Board will interview finalists Monday, June 9, beginning at 1:00 PM at Thunder Mountain High School Library.  This session will be open to the public with opportunities for public members to comment in writing.  The School Board expects to make its final decision that afternoon.

The Superintendent is the only position in the District that is hired directly by the Board of Education. The School Board asked a national search firm, Ray & Associates, to provide them assistance in finding the best person for the job.
