JSD Recruiting for Budget Committee Members

The Juneau School District announces the beginning of the FY 15 budget process. The Board of Education will appoint the FY 15 Budget Committee at its regular meeting on December 17, 2013 at 6:15 pm in the JDHS Library. The Budget Committee consists of 17 voting community members, including:  12 community members representing each school site council; up to three at-large community members representing the needs of all students; one teacher member selected by the Juneau Education Association; and one classified staff member selected by Juneau Education Support Staff.

In addition, the committee includes all seven school board members as non-voting members. A school board member along with a community representative will jointly chair the committee.

The full committee will meet six times, beginning in January 2014 to learn about the District budget, review proposals made by the Superintendent, and hear testimony from the community. Meetings will be January 7, 21, 28 and February 4,12, 25 in the Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School Library from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.

On March 4, 20134 the Budget Committee will make its own budget recommendation to the Board of Education. The Board then approves a final budget and submits it to the City and Borough of Juneau.
