The Juneau School District (JSD) and Juneau Education Association (JEA) began negotiations on January 12, 2012. The JEA bargaining unit is the district’s largest employee association, representing more than 400 of its 780 staff members. JEA is a local affiliate of National Education Association - Alaska.

The current three-year agreement between JSD and JEA expires on June 30, 2012. All efforts to reach a successor agreement will be made in the upcoming months.

The public is welcome to comment on this issue during public testimony at the February 7, 2012 Board of Education meeting. The meeting begins at 6:15 pm in the Juneau-Douglas High School library.
