The Juneau School District proudly announces that TMHS culinary students Cydney Norberg, Sydney Sabin and Royes Lumba took first place in the 2011 Alaska Pro Start Invitational Competition in Anchorage this weekend! The students had one hour to prepare an impressive culinary delight which included scallop seviche with cucumber avocado sauce, poached salmon on a bed of arugula, polenta and asparagus, and a mango parfait on hand formed chocolate. The team has been invited to represent Alaska at the national competition, which takes place in Overland Park, Kansas in April. Thanks to Chef David Moorhead of the Baranof and Kathleen Wiest, Culinary Instructor at TMHS, for coaching and preparing the team for competition. Thanks to Juneau Lynn Canal CHÅRR and the advisory committee for their support!
